Ohio crops benefited from moderate temperatures, but they only had limited rain last week. USDA statistician Cheryl Turner says the state’s topsoil moisture is 61% adequate and 12% surplus, but 26% of the topsoil is short on moisture.
Ohio farmers report planting double-crop soybeans, spraying, and straw baling last week.
USDA reporters say nearly half of the state’s soybeans are blooming and 11% are setting pods.
The corn crop is rated 49% good to excellent with 23% of the corn silking.
