Ohio FSA is asking Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue to make disaster declarations for Fulton, Henry, and Lucas counties. Ohio FSA made the request after meeting with farmers and collecting crop data and planting history, and taking photos of unplanted fields. Last week’s crop progress report for Ohio showed only half of the state’s corn crop and a little more than 30 percent of soybeans were planted. Jack Irvin, senior director of state and national affairs with Ohio Farm Bureau, says requests like this start at the county level and are made to the state.
