Oilseed demand will boost acres in 2024

An economist says tight soybean supplies combined with increased renewable diesel demand will encourage more U.S. soybean acres next year.

“The big questions are how many acres, where are those acres located and by how much?”

Tanner Ehmke tells Brownfield acreage shifts are especially likely in the Northern Plains and parts of the Corn Belt.

“Some acres will come out of corn, out of wheat, sunflowers and canola.”

Ehmke says the decision comes down to margins and he says continued interest in oilseeds is expected beyond 2024 as crush continues to expand.
