Cattle traceability for disease tracking has received mixed
opinions from cattle producers.
Matt Hardecke, the treasurer for the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association,
tells Brownfield it’s hard to tell what a traceability program would look like,
but said most producers support a voluntary traceability program.
“What does it look like,” Hardecke said. “You know, I mean you
go all the from producers that want mandatory to producers that don’t want
anything. And so, there is no real unified front, I think the bell curve kind
of points towards a voluntary program.”
He said a main concern for cattle producers is possible
misuse of their information.
