Representatives of organic agriculture are calling for
expanded research funding to address climate change.
Brise Tencer, director of the Organic Farming Research Foundation, recently testified before a House Ag Subcommittee hearing focused on climate change.
“What I really tried to highlight in the limited time I had was the ways in which organic producers are utilizing innovative strategies to support agricultural resiliency, and our belief that continued research investment is essential to realizing the potential of organic farming strategies and adapting and mitigating climate change.”
She tells Brownfield while organic researchers have learned a lot, there are still many gaps waiting to be filled in.
