An agronomist with Ohio State University says plentiful rains in August helped support soybean yields this season.
Laura Lindsey tells Brownfield variety research trials topped out at 93 bushels per acre in the northern region of the state.
“We had about 10 inches of rain in August and so this year and in previous years when we have good rainfall in August that’s where we see higher yields.
Lindsey says mid-April planted soybeans looked rough in May because of cool and wet weather but did surprisingly well.
