A program manager with the Missouri Department of Agriculture says pasture conditions in parts of Missouri are a surprise, especially for this time of year. Tony Hancock tells Brownfield he’s never seen grass growth during the month of August like they have this year. “Stuff is green,’” he says. “The heat definitely touched a little bit, but everything’s green and there are guys out bailing hay, in August. We never hear about that.”
He says farmers have been able to build up hay stocks, putting many producers in a much better position than in recent years.
