Wet weather might delay planting in parts of the Midwest, but an agronomist says patience is key this planting season.
Brent Tharp with Wyffels Hybrids based in Northwest Illinois says,
“Remember, last year going into April we had snow on the ground across a lot of the Midwest and guys were getting pretty nervous, but then at the very end of April going into May things turned fast and we got that crop in the ground in pretty nice shape.”
He tells Brownfield planting when it is too wet can have major consequences, so he reminds farmers to…
“Plan and be ready for whenever the weather does turn nice you are able to go.”
Wyffels Hybrids covers Illinois, Iowa and parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota.
