After several years without an
outbreak, the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv) has been found in Alberta,
Canada. The virus was found on a 400-head farrow-to-finish

PEDv was first found in Ontario,
Canada in 2014, but there have been cases in Quebec, Prince Edward Island, and
Manitoba.
PEDv is not transmissible to humans
or other animals and is not a food safety risk.
