U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue addressed concerns about how USDA calculates trade aid payments while in Iowa this week.
Speaking to reporters in Ames after participating in an ag round-table hosted by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Thursday, Perdue said he’s hearing from farmers who will suffer crop losses due to weather hoping for more compensation.
“The mitigation program is based on the trade mitigation effort. The fact is if there had been no tariff disruption at all, those farmers would be in the same situation.
