U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue indicates a trade deal with Japan could be finalized within the month.
“Maybe not a comprehensive type of bilateral trade negotiation, but certainly one that seals down the agricultural issues that we are very concerned about.”
Speaking to reporters this week, he says a U.S.-Japanese
agreement could happen by the time President Trump travels to Japan May 25th.
Perdue is hopeful the U.S. will be treated like the countries that remained in the Trans Pacific Partnership.
