The head of USDA says he’s relieved changes were made to the WOTUS rule.
During a roundtable discussion in Tennessee Tuesday, Sonny Perdue described a scenario that could’ve played out under the old definition.
“A federal regulator come out and say ‘here’s a summons (because) you’re violating the law and we’re going to prosecute (and) fine you unless you settle, we’re going to take you to court.’ It’s very unsettling.”
The EPA recently proposed a new rule under the Clean Water Act that removes ditches and gullies from its jurisdiction, something many farmers and ag organizations have been asking for since WOTUS was introduced.
