U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says he’s still hopeful the farm bill can be completed during the Lame Duck.
Speaking to reporters while visiting fire-ravaged areas of California this week, Perdue indicated House leadership is on the same page.
“Between Chairman Conaway and Ranking Member Peterson, I think they’re pretty much aligned here.”
However, he says there seems to be some hesitancy on the Senate side.
“But I’m optimistic the farm bill will be completed in this Congress.”
An official in Collin Peterson’s office tells Brownfield negotiators are very close to an agreement, and the Minnesota Congressman is encouraged by the progress.
