U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says every time a small refinery
exemption waiver is issued, corn use and ethanol capacity decrease.
“There’s a 15 billion-gallon RVO or volume obligation there. Every time you issue a wavier, you decrease that.”
He says the White House is working to recover some of the
waivers and believes infrastructure growth is the key.
“That’s the potential to grow ethanol usage 50 percent, from E-10 to E-15, and potentially build up two billion bushels of corn utilization domestically here for energy utilization.”
Perdue told reporters recently he, however, disagrees that exemptions have impacted export markets.
