The USDA says more than 99 percent of food tested for pesticide residues had levels well below benchmarks established by the EPA.
Each year, the agencies work together to identify products to be tested on a rotating basis.
In 2017, tests were conducted on fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, honey, milk, and bottled water.
More than half of all samples had no detectable pesticide residue, an increase of 30 percent from the year before.
