Pivot Bio, a Silicon Valley ag tech company, says it’s getting closer to launching a sustainable alternative to synthetic nitrogen fertilizer.
Company spokesman Ernest Sanders says microbes are applied at corn planting and grow along with the crop.
“At planting they can add our microbe and this will colonize the corn roots and provide daily nitrogen to the corn roots so they can uptake nitrogen regardless of weather,” he says.
Sanders says the product will be available next spring after it goes through the regulatory process.
