A wet spring is resulting in standing water in fields and Iowa farmers replanting corn and soybeans.
USDA’s latest weekly crop report says more scattered showers limited days suitable for fieldwork to less than four last week.
Corn planting, while nearly finished, trails last year’s pace by nearly two weeks and is five days slower than the five-year average.
Corn emergence, at 81 percent, is six days behind a year ago. Seventy-three percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition.
