U.S. pork and beef exports rebounded in May after faltering in
the first few months of the year. The U.S. Meat Export Federation says the
volume of pork and beef shipped out of the country in May was about the same as
a year ago, but the value of each was more. However, comparing this January
through May with the same period a year ago, pork and beef exports this year were
less. The 218,000 metric tons of pork exported in May, valued at almost $568
million, was the highest monthly value total since a year ago April.
