Most analysts expect the USDA to report a large number of cattle were placed on to feed in October.
The range of projections is wide, but ahead of the monthly Cattle on Feed numbers, the average estimate for placements is a more than 11% year to year increase, with colder weather in some of the major feeding areas and plenty of available feed stock contributing to the rise. Those cattle will be marketed from April through September of 2020.
