Poultry farmers sue Tyson Foods after processing plant closes

Poultry farmers from Missouri and Arkansas are suing Tyson Foods, Tyson Chicken, Tyson Sales and Distribution and two supervisors to recoup financial losses due to the closure of a poultry processing facility in southeastern Missouri last year.

Shawn Hinkle from southeast Missouri, R&S Green Farms and Jessie Bridwell from Arkansas filed the lawsuit at the end of 2023 in southeast Missouri.

The lawsuit says the closure caused severe damage to the farmers as contract poultry growers were prompted to invest millions of dollars in capital to build and maintain chicken houses, provide land, equipment and labor with the promise the facility would continue to operate in Stoddard County.
