For farmers who have been able to get their corn crop planted this spring, like Don Bloss of Pawnee City, Nebraska, the strong run-up in corn prices is providing some encouragement. “It does make you feel better. It makes you feel a little bit more encouraged when you have part of your crop in the ground, at least,” Bloss says. “We’re able to contract corn now for over $4.00 a bushel…and soybeans, I think we’re getting pretty close to $8.00.
