Proactive and reactive approach to African Swine Fever

A pork industry leader is calling for a comprehensive approach to African Swine Fever.

Minnesota Pork Producers Association CEO David Preisler says ASF is becoming more of a threat as the virus spreads across China and beyond.

“We should be spending probably 75 to 80 percent of our time, energy and money into prevention, then the other 20 to 25 percent into planning for if it got here.”

African Swine Fever has been detected in at least 25
Chinese provinces and was recently found in pork products confiscated by
Australian border security.
