Michigan officials say hopefully more dairy processing projects will sustain the state’s largest ag industry.
Representative-elect Luke Meerman is a dairy farmer from Ottawa County. “I can still see the tractors running up and down the road of farms that aren’t in existence today and that’s hard to see.”
He tells Brownfield some of the 10 percent contraction of Michigan’s dairy farms this past year is from is consolidation, but a lack of processing has amplified the issue.
