Producer investments to improve beef quality continue to pay off

The chair of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Young Cattlemen’s Conference says raising high-quality beef is key to the industry’s long-term success.

Fourth-generation Texas rancher Jack Cowen says producer investments in genetics and nutrition have made a difference in demand.  “We have come a long way to making our product even better,” he says.  “We have to continue that trend so that we can continue to maintain that quality premium over the other proteins that are in the market.”

He tells Brownfield the Young Cattlemen’s Conference facilitates peer-to-peer learning, which allows the industry to continually improve.
