A new grant can equip Minnesota livestock producers to better protect their animals from various threats.
Courtney VanderMey with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture says the Protecting Livestock Grant Program provides eligible producers resources to help prevent disease outbreaks and protect animals not covered by existing depredation programs.
“The livestock industry is an important part of Minnesota agriculture, and we looked to the needs of the industry and saw a place where we could assist.”
While all types of livestock operations are eligible to apply, she tells Brownfield priority consideration will be given to certain species.
