As cell-cultured proteins continue to advance, cattle producers want to make sure there is truth in packaging.
Mark Eisele, a Wyoming rancher and president-elect of NCBA, says members will set policy on labeling this week. “We think it should be marketed separately and housed separately in the stores where people can understand what they are actually buying,” he says. “We want the label clear and make sure that it states this is a cultured, synthesized product and not raised from the farm or ranch.”
He tells Brownfield while it might be billed as more sustainably produced — that’s not the case.
