Rain slows Minnesota harvest

Rain slowed harvest activity in Minnesota last week.

USDA’s latest crop update says widespread showers interrupted some fieldwork, but the corn harvest remains ahead of the five-year average at 18 percent complete.

Soybeans are 33 percent harvested, compared to 25 percent a year ago and 32 percent normally.

The dry edible bean harvest reached 84 percent, potatoes are 75 percent harvested, and sugarbeets are 16 percent harvested with 93 percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition.
