Rains continue to cause planting delays in Tennessee

Heavy rains have delayed planting progress for many Tennessee farmers.

Corn is 73 percent planted, and 45 percent emerged.  Soybeans are 46 percent planted, and 25 percent emerged.  Cotton is 28 percent planted.

Winter wheat is 89 percent head and 7 percent coloring, with 84 percent rated good to excellent.

Pastures are 72% good to excellent, and in some parts of the state, some farmers may be able to start on their first cutting of hay.
