Unrelenting rains continue to put a damper on crop fertility plans. Helena fertilizer manager Scott Dettmann says it’s been very challenging getting product in place for timely applications this spring. “We’ve had the river situations that have been tough to navigate barges, and that’s been all the way from the northern points, all the way down to the Gulf. And then east and west as far as the Ohio River to the Arkansas River.” He tells Brownfield as farmers get further behind, it might be time to take a hard look at alternatives.
