Record number of veterans applying for farm grants

 

The Farmer Veteran Coalition has received a record number of grant applicants from veterans starting a farm business.

“We had the most number of applications since the program began in 2011.  We received over 300 applications.”

Rachel Petitt, manager of the coalition’s Fellowship Fund, tells Brownfield the coalition has awarded $300,000 in $1,000 to $5,000 grants to 125 winners this year.  “Our veterans are serving our country a second time by feeding it.
