Leaders of the National Biodiesel Board and American Soybean
Association have requested a meeting with President Trump to discuss small
refinery exemptions and the Renewable Fuel Standard. The letter requesting the
meeting is from NBB CEO Donnell Rehagen and ASA President Davie Stephens. It details
damage the waivers have done to the biodiesel and renewable diesel industry,
and to the soybean farmers who provide much of its feedstock.
The letter cites University of Illinois economist Scott Irwin’s findings that demand
erosion from the waivers falls on biodiesel producers and in turn on soybean
farmers already suffering from tariffs and weather issues.
