A member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee is optimistic heading into next week’s scheduled farm bill mark up.
“I wish it had been done several months ago, but hey, we’re going where we need to go,” he says.
Southern Illinois Republican Mike Bost says the House’s bill addresses the needs of farmers.
“The key issues across the board.” He says, “We’re protecting crop insurance and securing the farm safety net, you know, increasing funding for trade programs, ensuring farmers have access to credit and I’m happy to say that most all of these are in, no, all of them, are in there.”
He says it also includes a legislative fix to the issues created by California’s Proposition 12.
