Reports: Trump-Xi meeting ‘highly unlikely’ before March 1 deadline

The White House indicates it’s “highly unlikely” President Trump will meet with China’s President Xi ahead of the March 1st deadline to reach a trade deal.

Officials say the Trump and Xi are still planning to meet. But they say there’s still much work to be done before the two presidents can complete a deal.

Chief trade negotiator Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will travel to Beijing next week to continue talks.
