A National Corn Growers Association director in Iowa says Trump’s tariff threat on Mexico caught him off guard Thursday night, “That’s going to be tough on the USMCA package. It’s going to have to make us work all that much harder to make sure that gets done.” Kevin Ross tells Brownfield Ag News he heard about it at his son’s soccer game, “The president certainly seems to pull out all the stops when he wants to on some issues but that’s his prerogative but we know those markets are extremely important so we’ve got to work that much harder to make sure that we keep those and we’re able to move our products across the border.” This tariff threat is tied to immigration and Ross says, “That’s certainly a new way to go about addressing that problem.” And Ross says that creates a new set of issues.
