Senate appropriations advance ag budget before break

The Senate Committee on Appropriations unanimously advanced the Fiscal Year 2024 ag budget before leaving Washington D.C. for a two-week recess.

Ag Appropriations Ranking Member John Hoeven tells Brownfield the near $26 billion budget invests in ag research and nutrition while saving money from President Biden’s initial proposal.

“In our top line, we were $2.6 billion below President Biden’s budget. We found ways to save.”

The House Appropriations Committee advanced a $25 billion ag spending bill in mid-June.
