Senators introduce Transporting Livestock Across America Safely Act

Legislation that would provide livestock haulers more flexibility

has been introduced in the U.S. Senate.

Livestock Marketing Association vice president of legislative affairs Chelsea Good says the Transporting Livestock Across America Safely Act offers a prescriptive solution to Hours of Service regulations that threaten the safety and welfare of animals in transit.

“It would give a 300 air-mile radius from the source, that is essentially exempt time. Currently there is a 150 air radius exemption.”

She tells Brownfield the bill also extends the drive time allowed from 11 to up to 18 hours in.
