A dairy marking specialist says this week’s milk production report confirms the dairy herd is shrinking even though July’s milk production was slightly higher.
“A big drop in some areas that shows there’s been some exiting. California’s down about 12,000 cows on farms, Minnesota was down 6,000 cows, Wisconsin down 4,000, Michigan is no longer growing, down 4,000.”
Bob Cropp with the University of Wisconsin-Madison says this week’s slightly lower butter stocks report is also slightly bullish for the market.
