Smith Seed has picked the southwest corner of Missouri for its new Midwest seed coating plant. Governor Mike Parson says the company chose “the great community of Lamar” because of the strong ag industry in Missouri and its central location. The new facility is expected to create nearly 40 new jobs. The company expects to break ground this month for the new seed coating plant, which is set to open in the middle of next year (2019).
