South Dakota Crop Progress Lagging Behind Average

South Dakota’s crop development is trailing behind the usual pace. According to the USDA, only 10% of the corn is mature, compared to the earlier start of last year’s harvest.

Soybean crops are showing 16% leaf drop, and sorghum is 5% mature, also behind last year’s progress.

Spring wheat harvest is almost finished, while winter wheat planting is 12% complete.

Sunflower bracts are 13% yellowing and 1% are turning brown.
