South Dakota farmer worries that it’s still too cold for newly planted corn

A Northeastern South Dakota farmer considers himself fortunate to have at least started corn planting, but he’s worried that he and others around him will be late getting row crops in.

Todd Hanten tells Brownfield he likes to finish planting corn by May 5th, but wet fields are making that unlikely.

“Here we are May 2nd, and I’ve got 120 acres in and most people have none in,” Hanten told Brownfield Ag News from his farm Thursday.
