Cattle producers have been able to feed less hay with the milder temperatures this winter.
But, Missouri Department of Agriculture’s market news manager Tony Hancock says demand remains strong – and the latest Southwest Missouri Hay Auction held in Golden City is a perfect example. “There were still over 2000 bales of hay and over 100 buyers there,” he says. “It was rocking and rolling. The prices were a touch cheaper, but not significantly like we normally expect once grass gets here.”
He says that auction has been incredibly popular.
