Soybeans down despite new export sale to China

Soybeans were modestly lower on fund and technical selling. China bought 581,000 tons of 2019/20 U.S. soybeans, less than what some were expecting, but more could be announced this week. The USDA’s weekly numbers are out Thursday morning. Beijing reportedly grained tariff waivers on as much as 6 million tons of U.S. beans, with trade talks resuming next week. China’s Administration of Customs says August soybean imports from the U.S. were 1.68 million tons, up sharply on both the month and the year.
