A USDA resurvey of spring wheat producers has led to a lower 2019 production total.
Spring wheat production is now pegged at 560.380 million bushels, a decrease of 37.61 million bushels from the Small Grains Production report, with a reduction of 775,000 acres in the harvested area projection and a fractional decline for the average yield, down 0.1 to 48.2 bushels per acre. Rain and snow in some spring wheat growing areas during harvest kept producers out of the field, lowered yields, and harmed quality.
