One of the leaders of the farm bill effort in the Senate says she’s pleased it has passed. “We know for a fact and looking back at history it’s the largest vote in the history of farm bills. So, we’re very proud of the fact that there was such strong bipartisan support.”
Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow says the five-year farm bill includes permanent funding, for the first time, for local foods AND exports, “Given the chaos and the uncertainty and what’s happening in trade around the world, the trade promotion piece of the farm bill, I think, is even more important.”
Stabenow says there are a lot of good things in the bill for Michigan agriculture, “Michigan really is on every page.
