Senate Ag Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow is calling on fellow lawmakers to extend the current farm bill.
“It would be irresponsible to allow vital programs in the farm safety net to lapse and revert to depression-era policy in January,” she says. “We can’t allow that to happen and given the chaos in the House, I know we will need an extension.”
Stabenow made her comments during a recent Senate floor speech.
