Across the Corn Belt, seasonally cool, dry weather accompanies some lingering cloudiness far east and a few showers in the upper Mississippi Valley. Despite below-normal temperatures, producers are taking advantage of the dry weather to plant any remaining corn and soybean acreage, as field conditions permit.
On the Plains, showers are occurring in parts of Texas, as well as Montana and the Dakotas. Meanwhile, dry weather prevails across the central Plains. Recent and ongoing rainfall has provided relief in some of the region’s remaining drought-affected areas, although some of that precipitation arrived too late to benefit winter wheat.
