Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures from the Pacific Northwest to the northern High Plains, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail in much of California, the Desert Southwest, and areas east of a line from the southern Rockies into the upper Mississippi Valley.
Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation in the southern Atlantic region and the Far West should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions from the Rockies to the Appalachians.
