‘Tis the season for those in government to list publicly their achievements of the past year. Congressional leaders proudly point to legislation enacted, while bureaucrats list their department/agency efficiencies and regulatory promulgation. Don’t get me wrong – this practice is a good thing. The public needs to know the federal government can actually get things done.
Then we have the government “shutdown,” under which about 24% of the federal government’s job description – and the employees who perform said jobs – is in limbo.
