California’s windy, dry weather regime will continue to hamper wildfire containment efforts and foster the spread of any new fires into Friday.
Meanwhile, cold air will engulf much of the remainder of the country, with lingering Eastern warmth being pushed away during the weekend.
Some of the coldest air will trail a snow storm currently unfolding across central sections of the Rockies and High Plains, where post-storm temperatures could drop below 0°.
