Too wet and cool for fieldwork in Minnesota

Minnesota farmers are continuing to deal with wet and muddy fields as the snow continues to melt in some regions.  USDA reporters say only a couple of hours were suitable for fieldwork all week.

The snowmelt has helped recharge soils, as both topsoil and subsoil are rated 67% adequate, with 23% of topsoil having surplus water.  A weather system also dumped more than five inches of rain in a small area of northwestern Minnesota last week.
